52 Photos Project – Week 52 {Clouds}

I can hardly believe it’s the last week of the 52 Photos Project. It has been such fun for me to participate in this project. At the very least it forced me to pick up a camera more consistently, even if it was just my iPhone πŸ™‚

I started the project because I wanted to get better at picture taking thinking I was going to turn my hobby into something a little more serious. As it turns out, life is taking me down a different path but I suspect photography will still be a part of my journey.

This week the theme is clouds. Here are are a few of my favorites from my archives

Love fluffy clouds that look like I can bounce on them.

El Paso Texas

Pacific Coast Highway (on the vacation of a lifetime)

There are some fun pics in this week’s gallery. Take a look and as always leave some love for the other photogs.

The next round of 52 Photos kicks off in a couple of weeks. If you are a photographer or just like taking pictures, I can’t recommend participating in something like this enough. I will likely not be a part of the next round but you never know, I may still pop in from time to time πŸ™‚

52 Photos Project – Week 39

The prompt over at 52 Photos this week is Wide Open Spaces. I’ve not been spending a lot of time in any open spaces, narrow or wide, largely because it’s so cold in Charlotte right about now and inside is way better than being outside. But the biggest reason is I’m working on a little project that is keeping me indoors a lot lately. I hope to be able to reveal the details of that project to you soon.

In the meantime I needed a pic for this week’s gallery. I dug into my archives and came up with a pic from my trip to Moldova last year. You can read all about why I went to Moldova over on my Facebook page (disclaimer: For the longest time I couldn’t get the fact that Moldova was NOT in Russia to stick in my head. Geography was never my strongest subject). I wasn’t blogging yet so I had to resort to writing a note on Facebook. Oddly enough it was that trip that stirred me to reignite this blog πŸ™‚ Anyhoo, here’s the pic I chose for this week’s submission.

IMG_2718The one day that we were to spend the majority of our time outside because we had a free day, was the ONLY day that it snowed during our trip. I’m not a fan of the snow but I will say that some of the pics I got were really pretty. Here are a few more.

As usual the other photographers have done a stellar job with their submissions. Go check out this week’s gallery and leave some love for some of the photogs. As always thanks for stopping by and reading my ramblings.

52 Photos Project – Week 30

I traveled to Nashville this week and did not take my computer with me. As a result, my little blog has felt slightly abandoned. However, my trip has given me a new resolve to take my blogging up a notch so you should be seeing a few more consistent posts from me in the coming days and weeks. For now, I’m back to skating in at the last second with my submission for the 52 Photos Project prompt. It’s not the very last second but still pretty close so I am definitely back to my normal way of posting for this project. My streak of early submissions was VERY short lived πŸ˜€

The prompt this week is On My Way. I did a short photo shoot for friend this weekend who needed some head shots for her website. On my way (see what I did there πŸ™‚ ) I noticed that Fall was in full bloom throughout my neighborhood so I grabbed a few shots of Fall showing off her colors.

DSC_3633I used to not like Fall because it was a precursor to Winter and I am not a fan of Winter. But all these colors makes me want to reconsider my dislike of this season. So beautiful!

As usual, there are some wonderful pictures in this week’s gallery. Go check out what the other photogs submitted and remember to leave some love for them.

I’d love to hear what’s your favorite season and why? Me I’mΒ  a summer baby but Spring is hands down my favorite season I LOVE how everything just comes back to life in springtime, including me in some ways. I think I may suffer from a mild case of Seasonal Affective Disorder so when spring comes around I’m in hog heaven πŸ™‚ How about you? What’s your favorite season?

52 Photos Project – Week 27

PEOPLE! Y’all are witnessing a bona fideΒ  miracle right here, in this very moment. I am posting my weekly submission for the 52 Photos Project WELL in advance of the deadline. Not only that, I’m posting it so early Bella hasn’t posted the new prompt for next week. Miracles really do happen πŸ™‚

The prompt this week is Someone You Love and here’s my offering:

week 27_loved one_v2

This is a pic of my Mum, the person I love most in the world. She raised my sister and me as a single mother and I don’t ever once recall hearing her complain about how hard it was for her. She taught me so much about what it means to do whatever must be done to get the job done. Growing up, it wasn’t easy for her and there was a time when she worked two jobs just to keep food on the table. But no matter what, my mother always made sure my sister and I were cared for. We may not have had the fanciest clothes or the latest gadgets but we had a roof over our head and food on our table every night. I love my mum and thrilled to share her with all of you. She hates having her picture taken but I snapped this one of her at my sister’s annual summer party this year.

There are lots of fun pictures in this week’s gallery. Probably my favorite is this unique one. I’ve developed a thing lately for horses so that picture really touched my heart.Β  Go check out what the other photographers posted and then come back here and tell me who you would have chosen for this prompt? Would you have picked a family member or maybe a best friend? I’m curious to hear your thoughts.Β  As always thanks for stopping by and reading my random ramblings.

52 Photos Project – Week 25

So once again I find myself coming in right under the gun in posting my weekly submission for the 52 Photos Project prompt. Clearly I work better under pressure because there truly is no other explanation for my consistency in posting this late in the week. Or maybe my week’s are just too crazy and Monday night is the best night for me to find time to post. Who knows but alas here I am with my interpretation. The prompt this week was something that starts with C. I had a few ideas but in the end I liked this one the best.

week 25_crayons

C is for Crayons Crowded in a Container (see what I did there πŸ™‚ ). Love all the colors. Crayons always take me back to my childhood. I loved coloring as a child and even now as an adult I’ll still reach for my coloring book when it all gets to be a bit too much.Β  Coloring is very soothing for the soul πŸ™‚

There are some really fun pictures in this week’s gallery. So go check out what others posted and then tell me in the comments below what things help soothe you after a stressful day?

52 Photos Project – Week 24

The prompt this week over at 52 Photos is Gold. I was torn about which direction to go with this one. I had an idea but then I remembered a pic I took last fall that would be perfect. In the end, I decided I’ll showcase both in this post but use only the first one to link to the gallery.

I just got back from the beach which I talked about in my last post. I spent every night walking on the beach, watching the sunset; it was so beautiful and peaceful. I captured this shot with my iPhone. I’m in love with the streaks of gold left by the setting sun and the silhouette of the pier makes it that much more divine. This picture takes me right back to those moments on the beach and my soul exhales just a little bit.

week 24_gold_2

The other photo that would have worked is this one. I was driving down the road when I saw this tree in front of an Episcopal Church. The color took my breath away and I HAD to turn around to take a picture. Isn’t it just the most wonderful color in the world?!

week 24_gold

My OneWord for 2013 was Change and I decided to chronicle this tree as it changed through each of the four seasons. Few things embody the power of change more beautifully than a tree. It was fun to capture it over the last year.

tree changes_v2There are some wonderful pictures in this week’s gallery. So as always, go take a look and leave some love for the other photographers. Next week we’re capturing something that starts with C. Wonder what I will come up with for that one πŸ™‚

In the meantime, I’d love to know what’s your favorite season? Spring is mine. So much life and hope and joy bubbles up when spring shows up. I am slowly gaining an appreciation for the Fall though. I never used to like it but I think it might be growing on me.

52 Photos Project – Week 23

I’ve been a little slack on here lately. It’s been an incredibly busy week and really just a tough month overall so my motivation has been low to say the least. I must say I’m glad that September is over. This month has not been a fun one for me but now I get to look forward to a really great October and November (I’ve decided I need two great months to make up for September).

The prompt over at 52 Photos this week is In The Circle.Β  I am really skating in at the last minute on this one. I realize I say that every week but this week was by far the worst to date. I barely remembered the prompt; it was bad y’all. I’m shaking my head at myself. I had to go into the files to find a photo to post but in the end I actually really like this week’s submission. I think it’s perfect and feels like a score for me πŸ™‚ I even titled the image Score when I originally posted it. I think this one hits the nail on the head or at least gets the circle over the nail’s head (I know, I know I have issues but y’all have to love me anyway πŸ™‚ )

There are some fun submissions in the gallery this week so be sure to head over there and check out how the other photogs interpreted the prompt. Next week, we are enjoying the colors of the season and posting about Gold. I have an idea of what I want to do, we’ll see if I’m able to pull it off πŸ™‚

As September winds down, I’m curious how was your September? Are you sad to see it go or are you like me and looking forward to putting it behind you?
